From my understanding the answer is no. Poor blacks in inner-cities across America will still be forced to go to public hospitals, hospitals that the members of Congress will not be caught dead in. As a child I remember going to Public Hospitals. My mother was so upset with their care and their lack of sensitivity toward black folks that she stop taking us to the hospital and came up with home remedies to treat us. I still have several of the medical books that my mother bought to treat her family. These public hospitals are government run hospitals, but they are never referred to when Congress is asked can they provide quality health care programs.

According to Tavis Smiley's State of The Black Union, since the Tuskegee Experiment, blacks do not trust the government and government run hospitals. Not only was there the Tuskegee Experiment, there have been other secret government experiments targeting blacks, one in particular at the prison in Monroe, Washington (state) a few years ago. Because of the Tuskegee Experiment, the 20,000 members of the National Medical Association (an African American Professioal Medical Association) demanded an apology from the Clinton Administration. Clinton said, "To our African American citizens, I am sorry that your federal government orchestrated a study so clearly racist...."

Should blacks trust the government's proposed Health Choice Commissioners in Section 201 of the proposed Health Care Bill, a Commission that will decide what care the patient should receive, particularly when blacks know that this is the same government that has approved a system of death that has killed over 17 million black babies and a system that was started and inspired by Eugenics (a program to control the population growth of blacks)? If a black need medical care, can he or she trust this Commission to reach a decision without the consideration of one's race? Or will the commissioners withhold treatment of the black and just let him or her die because they are old or a gang banger? How can they assure blacks that these Commissioners are not prejudice?

These are some of the questions that blacks should be asking Congress.

Bush & Obama: Who Lied?

When Obama campaigned for the office of the President of the United States, he emphasized that Bush had lied about the weapons of mass destruction and he went on to make several promises from bringing our troops home within 16 months to improving our image overseas. Did he keep his promises? And did Bush lie? Let’s take a look.

A Promise of Bi-partisanship

Obama promised that he would consider other points of view in his decision making and welcomed bi-partisanship participation. Even though he made this promise, he has consistently ignored the input of Conservatives from the beginning. He started by ignoring the Conservatives’ position on abortions and signed a Bill to provide millions to fund abortions overseas. He is currently ignoring the input of Conservatives on Health Care. Experts say the current proposed Health Care Plan includes more government funds to fund abortions here at home. Did Obama lie about welcoming bi-partisan in-put or did he mean that he only wanted bi-partisanship if they agreed with him?

Promises in Bringing the Troops Home

Throughout his campaign Senator Obama said he would begin troop withdrawal immediately and have all troops out of Iraq within 16 months. There has been no significant troop withdrawal since he has taken office and he has now changed his mind and said all troops will be out by December 2011, the same date that President Bush had agreed to have all troops out when he signed an agreement with Iraq in November. Did Obama lie, or was he just un-informed?

Promises In Foreign Policy

During the campaign Obama said in the first year of his administration, he would meet with five foreign leaders to improve relations with the U.S. (Iran, Syria, Venezuela, Cuba, and North Korea). He went on to say that he would meet with the leader of Iran with no pre-conditions, that he would use diplomacy to stop North Korea’s pursuit of nuclear weapons, and that he would improve the image of America around the world. As of August 10, 2009, he has not met one-on-one with any of these leaders nor has he scheduled meetings with them.

The Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei of Iran has already denounced Obama’s “gesture of reconciliation, as a trick” while President Ahmadinejad, told Obama that he will continue Iran’s nuclear program and after recent protests over their elections, Ahmadinejad warned Obama not to “interfere in Iran’s affairs.”

Under President Obama, the six-party-talks involving North Korea, Russia, China, Japan South Korea, and th e United States were discontinued when Kim Jong ignored Obama’s diplomatic efforts and continued to test his long-range missiles, while re-affirming his commitment to build nuclear weapons. These talks were started by the Bush administration.

It was Raul Castro, not Barack Obama that set pre-conditions for possible dialogue between Cuba and the U.S. when he sent the following message to the Obama administration, “We are ready to discuss everything, but not to negotiate over our political or social systems…. I was chosen to defend, maintain and continue to perfect socialism, not destroy it.”

Hugo Chavez of Venezuela accused the Obama Administration of backing the coup in Honduras and expressed outrage when Obama’s Democratic Congress released a report accusing the Chavez administration of corruption by supporting cocaine trafficki ng through Venezuela. Chevez said, “Obama’s mask is falling” and stated that the United States’ plan for providing extra military help for Colombia’s conservative government is a threat to Venezuela and its neighbors in the Andean region.

Obama’s popularity around the world was not reflected in their response to his appeal for more troops in Afghanistan. Only handful of countries agreed to send more troops to Afghanistan, but the number of troops pledged was only a fraction of the troops that he said was needed.

When it came to foreign policy, Obama found out that he was not as popular as he thought, particularly among those leaders of rouge states. Did Obama lie about what he claimed he would accomplish in the area of foreign policy, or was he just uninformed?

Closing Guantanamo Bay

Obama promised to close Guantanamo Bay (Gitmo) within a year. But as of August 10, 2009, he has not found a place to put the prisoners. Being faced with the same dilemma that the Bush Administration faced, when the Bush administration wanted to close the prison, Obama decided that he needed a comprehensive plan before he could proceed. This plan is due on January 22, 2010, the date that he had boasted that the prison would be closed. In June of 2006 (almost three years before Obama took office), President Bush reiterated his desire to close Gitmo, and explained the reasons why it would be difficult to do so. The Obama administration knew of the problems that Bush administration faced in their efforts to close this facility but ignore them. They also refused to acknowledge that the Bush administration had decided to close the prison, three years before Obama promised to do so. Did Obama lie about closing Gitmo within a year, or was he just uninformed?

Promises Of Transparency

Senator Obama promised “Transparency,” transparency that would include granting the press permission to sit in on previously closed door meetings, and a pledge to post all Bills on a White House website for public review before signing such legislation. Obama failed to keep these promises. In addition to keeping the press out certain meetings and conspiring to know in advance what questions certain members of the press would ask, the president signed many pieces of legislation without posting the Bills on the website and he tried to push through the massive Health Care Reform Bill before the Congressional August recess, without giving anyone anytime to read it. Did Obama lie about transparency, or did he just forget what he had promised?

Obama Promised No Earmarks

Senator Obama promised not to sign any bills with earmarks, but he signed the massive Stimulus Bill that had an estimated 8,000 earmarks. Did Obama lie, or did he not know there were earmarks in the Bill?

Obama Promised No Lobbyist

During his campaign, Senator Obama was adamant about lobbyist and former lobbyist being a part of his administration. But that soon changed after he became president. Watchdog organizations now list over 65 persons who were either registered lobbyists at one time or had strong ties to lobbyist who are currently serving in the Obama administration. Did Obama lie about lobbyist serving in his administration, or is it that he is totally unaware of the background of those who are serving in his administration?

Claims That he Inherited the Problems

Obama often claims that he inherited the problems that our nation is currently facing. But he fails to acknowledge that as a member of Congress, (the legislative branch of the government) he is partially responsible for the problems. At no time did he sponsor, co-sponsor or submit legislation to stop sub-prime lending, speculation on Wallstreet, or to improve health care. The records will show that he was one of the Senators that met with George Bush privately (during the campaign) to approve the first stimulus plan. He not only approved the plan, he used his influence to get other Democrats to vote for it as well. Is he being disingenuous about inheriting this problem or is he just covering up for not doing his job as Senator?

Promise To Create and Save Three Million Jobs

During the early stages of his campaign, Senator Obama boasted that he would create three million jobs, later he changed the pledge and promised to “create and save three million jobs.” He claimed that his Stimulus Package would have an immediate impact. Since passing the Stimulus Package, several million persons have lost their jobs, unemployment has increased dramatically and no one can point to one job that was specifically saved or created by the “Stimulus.” Did he lie, or did he really feel that he could save and create that many jobs?

Was Obama Right? Did Bush Lie About Weapon of Mass Destruction?

Did President Bush lie about the “weapons of mass destruction,” or was he merely repeating what was told to him by the Clinton Administration? This is the speech that President Clinton delivered on December 16, 1998 regarding weapons of mass destruction, almost three years before Bush became President. Clinton told Americans:

“Earlier today, I ordered America’s armed forces to strike military and security targets in Iraq. They are joined by British forces. Their mission is to attack Iraq’s nuclear, chemical and biological weapons program and its military capacity to threaten its neighbors….

The hard fact is that so long as Saddam remains in power, he threatens the well being of his people, the peace of his region and the security of the world. The best way to end that threat onc e and for all is with a new Iraqi government – a government to live in peace with its neighbors, a government that respects the rights of its people….

If we turn out backs on his defiance, the credibility of the U.S. power as a check against Saddam will be destroyed. We will not only have allowed Saddam to shatter the inspection system that controls his weapons of mass destruction program; we also will have fatally undercut the fear of force that stops Saddam from acting to gain domination in the region.

…We must be prepared to use force again if Saddam takes threatening action, such as trying to reconstitute his weapons of mass destruction or their delivery systems, threatening his neighbors, challenging allied aircraft over Iraq, or moving against the Kurdish citizens

Why Did The San Diego Voice & Viewpoint Steal from CNN?

The July 16th edition of the San Diego Voice & Viewpoint newspaper had a front-page article entitled "Grandson of Slaves: Obama is Our Moses." This impressive story was an interview with a Black gentleman named Mr. James Presley, 78, of Sledge, Mississippi. Mr. Presley's grandparents were slaves in ante-bellum Mississippi. The article includes:

"He's lived a raw-knuckled life where hope moved at a molasses-slow pace. The last time he had hope for a better future was four decades ago -- first with President John F. Kennedy and then with the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr."

"'I'm a church man,' he says. 'And I kind of figured that this here is about like it was with Moses with the children of Israel. On that day, when he gets to be president, we're all going to be rejoicing.'

"Does he have plans to celebrate on Inauguration Day?"

Huh? Plans to celebrate on Inauguration Day?

The presidential inauguration happened on Tuesday, January 20 did it not or did I miss something? Is this is a Gary Coleman "Whatchu-talkin'-'bout-Willis" moment? The edition-in-question of the newspaper was Thursday, July 16 -- six months later. Old news is old news. Why publish six-month-old news on the front page where current news is printed?

I did some internet research. I was saddened to discover that the "Obama is Our Moses" article was actually from the website CNN.com (Cable News Network) from a Monday, January 12, 2009 article called "Grandson of Slaves: Obama is Our Moses," written by CNN.com Senior Producer Wayne Drash (http://www.cnn.com/2009/US/01/12/grandson.of.slaves/index.html). A condensed version of the article printed in the Voice & Viewpoint was copied word-for-word from the CNN website. The slugline on the website's article had "SLEDGE, Mississippi (CNN)" The slugline in the Voice & Viewpoint article had "SLEDGE, Mississippi" with no reference to CNN at all. Also that CNN article included: "As the nation prepares for Obama's inauguration on January 20, CNN.com traveled to Sledge, Mississippi, a forgotten town of about 500 people in the heart of the Mississippi Delta that some consider to be the birthplace of blues in America." The Voice & Viewpoint omitted that sentence.

The Voice & Viewpoint committed one of the worst of the cardinal sins of journalism -- plagiarism. I used to be the editor of the San Diego County Times, a small community newspaper. Not only would I have not edited copy for news that was six-weeks old as if it was current news, much less six-months old, but I would NEVER have edited copy without giving proper attribution to the source and without getting written permission from the source to publish such material. My Publisher would have gotten quite upset with me had I committed such errors. I would have damaged the credibility of my newspaper, damaged my own credibility, and ruined my relationship with the publishers. The two worst cardinal sins in journalism are 1. creating fictional news stories as if they were real, and 2. publishing stories from another source without giving proper credit -- plagiarism.

Why did the Voice & Viewpoint steal from CNN?

When I told a black friend in Los Angeles about that Voice & Viewpoint article, his opinion was that "they're running scared" concerning President Barack Obama's popularity. Obama's approval ratings have been rapidly declining, particularly among the independents who voted for him. Obama-themed items such as buttons and t-shirts are becoming unpopular, a number of those t-shirts being donated to thrift stores. Much of the American antiwar movement that optimistically hoped for change from the Bush administration's policies in Iraq and Afghanistan soured on the current president. They complain of no fundamental change in the Obama administration's war policies, and they openly oppose the president after once supporting him. Senior citizens are now getting unexpected cuts in their Supplemental Security Income (SSI). An ordained minister, a senior citizen in the San Diego-area, whose SSI was recently cut by approximately $200 monthly and whose Medicare benefits have been recently cut says that God allowed Obama to be elected to "punish America." There is also much suspicion and growing pessimism about his "healthcare reform" ideas. Many who voted for Obama have complained that his promise of jobs, courtesy of the "stimulus" package, has not come to fruition especially when hundreds of thousands of people are still losing jobs all across the United States. The national unemployment rate was 9.4% in July 2009, (California 11.6% in June 2009) according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. (That figure does not include the currently unemployed whose benefits have run out or the currently unemployed who never qualified for benefits.) Frustrated voters ask "Where are the jobs?" when jobs were promised. And Obama's recent response to the Dr. Henry Louis Gates arrest in Cambridge, Massachusetts was not helpful either, especially hen a Cambridge black policewoman publicly stated that she would not vote for Obama any more. A black man who voted for Obama in the Seattle area said that the president "lost all credibility" with him over that incident and over the lack of "change" that was promised. Others have told me of other black voters who regret voting for Obama.

That is not positive news for the president. The "change" is strange and the "hope" is nope. (Last November 9, a black writer originally from Chicago predicted at a public forum in Los Angeles "You will get better change from a Coke machine than you will get from Obama.") Why did the Voice & Viewpoint steal from CNN? Perhaps as a newspaper serving the Black Community in San Diego it felt that it needed to give President Obama a boost of solid support and a certain measure of celebration despite his growing unpopularity, even among Black voters. Could it be that this newspaper is "circling the wagons" around Obama by printing someting positive and ignoring the negative news? I can understand wanting to support the president. As a former newspaper editor, I can even understand and respect any newspaper's legal right to print any news it chooses and to omit any news it chooses. But to commit blatent plagiarism to support President Obama crosses the line of ethics, crosses the line of journalistic integrity and damages the credibility of the Voice & Viewpoint, in my opinion.

Significance of Janeane Garofalo's breast reduction

"Or take Janeane Garofalo, who says stupid things with such regularity you might take her for a sulky teenager even though she's 44 years old. Because she is an ignoramus and has the self-righteous attitude of an adolescent brat, she was a perfect fit for Air America, where she and Al Franken competed to see which of them could attract fewer listeners.

"For those of you who have managed to go through life without ever having heard the nasty sound bites for which she's best known, your good luck is about to run out.

"On one occasion, she said, 'Our country is founded on a sham. Our forefathers were slave-owning rich white guys who wanted it their way. So when I see the American flag, I go, "Oh, my god, you're insulting me." That you can have a gay pride parade on Christopher Street in New York, with naked men and women on a float, cheering, "We're here and we're queer!" – that's what makes my heart swell. Not the flag, but a gay naked man or woman burning the flag. I get choked up with pride.'

"Another time, she announced, 'The world would be better off with multiple superpowers. When the Soviet Union was a superpower, the world was better off.'

"I'm sure when she shared that thought with her fellow pinheads on New York's upper Westside, there was a lot of solemn head nodding and people turning to one another, martini in hand, and saying, 'That little girl has a damn good head on her shoulders.'

"On the other hand, if she'd made such a moronic statement in Poland, Latvia, Czechoslovakia, East Germany or Hungary, I'd like to think she'd have gotten her block knocked off.

"It's usually difficult to figure out why anyone who grows up with all the advantages that go with being born in America and enjoys a moderately successful career, would hate the country as much as she does. But, at the risk of being tossed out of the layman's psychiatric association, it's hard not to view her as someone who has devoted her life to rebelling against mommy and daddy. After all, her mother worked as a secretary in the petrochemical industry and her father was an executive with Exxon!

"Not too surprisingly, Ms. Garofalo is a confirmed atheist, toured on behalf of Code Pink and campaigned for Howard Dean. Take that, Mom and Dad! For good measure, in the early '90s, she got married in a Vegas chapel. Whether she and the groom, a fellow named Robert Cohen, were or weren't drunk at the time, they soon separated, although, for reasons of their own, never bothered getting divorced.

"Although she came to be fairly well-known because of her role in 'The Truth About Cats and Dogs,' she claims she despised the movie because she regards it as anti-feminist. One wonders why, that being the case, she didn't turn down the role after reading the script. But, for someone who is so vehement in her opinions about those she regards as hypocrites, the lady manages to cut herself a great deal of slack.

"Ms. Garofalo is barely five feet tall, which meant that in 'Cats and Dogs,' because the star was Uma Thurman, she often had to stand on a soapbox in scenes with the six-foot tall actress. She must have enjoyed the experience, because in the 13 years since, she has rarely climbed down from her soapbox.

"Besides having had parents who worked in industries Ms. Garofalo hates, she isn't too happy about the hand or, rather, the size and shape God dealt her. As she says about prepping to be a stand-up comedienne, 'I was a 36C or D and at 5'1", I knew that being a small person with big boobs standing in front of an audience was not going to be easy. It would be really hard to get people to pay attention to me without mocking me. Getting a breast reduction to prepare for my career was no different from people who work to get good grades to get into a good college to get into a good graduate school to get a good job. I went down to a B-cup, and it was the best thing in the world.'

"Now, why would she assume people would mock her just because she was busty? Obviously, it's because if she were the one sitting in the audience, she'd be the one snickering and heckling. On the other hand, it's really just about impossible not to mock someone who compares studying hard in college and graduate school to going to a plastic surgeon one afternoon for a breast reduction procedure. Funny, but when I think of something to compare it to, the first thing that comes to mind is a nose job.

"She has directed much of her anger over the years at society for putting pressure on women to conform to body image ideals. And yet in pursuit of a feature role in 'Jerry Maguire,' she lost a good deal of weight, only to discover that Renee Zellweger had snagged the part.

"One could almost feel sorry for her if she weren't such a nasty piece of work. When speaking about Sarah Palin, Garofalo said, 'There is definitely something wrong about her.' I assumed she had something in mind aside from the governor's being smart, attractive and happily married. But when she got down to specifics, the best she could come up with was that Gov. Palin was small-minded and mean-spirited, whereas she, herself, is obviously open-minded and a real sweetie pie.

"When it comes to right-wingers in general, she brayed, 'The reason a person is a conservative Republican is because something is wrong with them. That's science – that's neuroscience. You cannot be well-adjusted, open-minded, pluralistic, enlightened and be a Republican. It's counterintuitive.' That's sure a lot of big words wasted only to prove what a small and petty mind she possesses.

"About the recent tea parties, the all-seeing, all-knowing gnome, who naturally didn't attend one, says, 'Let's be very honest about what this is about. This is not about bashing Democrats. It's not about taxes. They have no idea what the Boston Tea Party was about. They don't know their history at all. It's about having a black man in the White House. This is racism straight up and is nothing but a bunch of tea-bagging rednecks. There is no way around that.'

"I can't help thinking that when the surgeon reduced her breasts, he got carried away and also removed part of her brain and most of her heart.

"As if it's not bad enough that she is such an arrogant, ignorant, self-satisfied little twit who, if she'd only grow a big red mustache, would look and sound a lot like Yosemite Sam, she's also a sellout. How else to explain why she'd accept a role on '24,' portraying FBI Special Agent Janis Gold, whose mission is investigating terrorists?

"But just maybe Janeane Garofalo isn't quite as unaware of the sad truth about herself as she would have us believe. After all, it isn't as if her production company woke up one day and decided to name itself I Hate Myself Productions."

Yes, her company is really named that.

ACLU on wrong side of 'thought crimes' bill

"They should also remember that the Fifth Amendment makes clear: 'nor shall any person be subject for the same offence to be twice put in jeopardy.' But the House 'hate crime' bill allows defendants found innocent of that offense in a state court to be tried again in federal court because of insufficiently diligent prosecutors; or, as Attorney General Eric Holder says, when state prosecutors claim lack of evidence. It must be tried again in federal court!

"Imagine Holder as the state prosecutor in the long early stages of the Duke University lacrosse rape case!

"What also appalls me, as the new federal bill races toward a presidential signature, is that for years, and now, the American Civil Liberties Union approves 'hate crimes' prosecutions!

"I have long depended on the ACLU's staff of constitutional warriors to act persistently against government abuses of our founding documents. And these attorneys and analysts have been especially valuable in exposing the results of executive-branch lunges against the separation of powers in the Bush-Cheney years, and still under Obama.

"Is there no non-politically correct ACLU lawyer or other staff worker or anyone in the ACLU affiliates around the country or any dues-paying member outraged enough to demand of the ACLU's ruling circle to at last disavow this corruption of the Constitution?

"And the president, former senior lecturer in that document at the University of Chicago, should at least take it with him on Air Force One, where there are fewer necessary distractions, and familiarize himself with what the Constitution actually says."

Senate: Filibuster 'Pedophile Protection Act' now!

"There are only 242 crimes where there is actually some – truly – an assault, and we just rejected an amendment to including pedophilia from being a part of this protected class.

"Do you realize what that means?

"If a mother hears that their child has been raped and she slaps the assailant with her purse, she is now gone after as a hate criminal because this is a protected class. There are other protected classes in here. I mean simple exhibitionism. I have female friends who have told me over the years that some guy flashed them, and their immediate reaction was to hit them with their purse. Well now, he's committed a misdemeanor, [and] she has committed a federal hate crime because the exhibitionism is protected under sexual orientation.

"I know my friend said that we have a definition in the law, but there is nothing in this bill that references the definitions in the Hate Crimes Statistical Act … it's not there. We asked that it be added so we could get a specific definition. It is not there.

"And having reviewed cases as an appellate judge, I know that when the legislature has the chance to include a definition and refuses, then what we look at is the plain meaning of those words. The plain meaning of sexual orientation is anything to which someone is orientated. That could include exhibitionism, it could include necrophilia (sexual arousal/activity with a corpse). … It could include urophilia (sexual arousal associated with urine), voyeurism. Like all jilted former admirers, recovering supporters will feel foolish, so it is important to not bring further embarrassment upon them. Just admitting the failure is progress enough for step one.

"2. Show faith in a higher power – Recovering Obama supporters have an aversion to discussing faith issues, so this is another difficult step. Avoid telling the former Obama worshiper the importance of believing in God, but focus instead on the fact that Obama turned out not to be God. Recovering from liberalism frequently requires admission that there might actually be a kind and loving God and this by itself is a huge leap. Once again “baby steps” are the objective. Just getting the recovering Obama supporter to admit that Obama is not God might be all the progress one can make.

"3. Assist in surrender of control – Obama supporters at one time believed that government control of industry and finance would create a more fair and just society. Instead, it created unemployment and soon-to-come inflation. Still, a recovering Obamniac does not at his core, believe in freedom. Freedom of action, speech and especially of others to own firearms is terrifying to a liberal. Take the recovering Obama supporter to coffee and explain that freedom is the right to choose between a non-fat vanilla latte and a mocha cappuccino. The choice is not threatening. It also isn’t threatening that the guy in front of you ordered a drink he despises. The assisting conservative can then carry the conversation on to the issue of free markets. Without surrendering to a free market, there can be no prosperity – or at least the ability to choose what one orders at Starbucks.

"4. Help in taking a personal moral inventory – Liberals absolutely hate this. They would much rather take someone else’s moral inventory and point out the errors of someone else’s ways. Pointing out others’ faults is a trait Democrats cultivate in their followers. Looking for failures within themselves is foreign and threatening. The conservative must be patient and stick to the evidence in discussing topics. A good start is to initiate a conversation regarding why the inevitable inflation next year will be Obama’s cruel tax on the middle class. Obama supporters will connect with the word ‘cruel’ as they are concerned about the future of America’s middle class. When evidence mounts that the conservative position has proven correct, the Obama-type may become frustrated and emotional. Conservatives must continue to bring up factual evidence. Unless the Obamican is brain-dead, this tactic will eventually pay off.

"5. Encourage admission that the previously held belief was incorrect – Recovering Obama supporters wrestle mightily with this step. Admission that any previously held belief was incorrect is taken in most liberal minds as a personal defeat. Politics with Democrats is personal. Admission of poor judgment is not something they would choose to make public. Completion of this step might involve admitting to the conservative that he/she ‘may’ have been wrong. A liberal using the word ‘may’ in this context must be read as a definite admission of the wrong. Democrats never admit an error.

"6. Help recovering Obama supporter accept defects in judgment – This is where it really gets difficult. Admitting a single error is difficult enough. Admission to a defective judgmental process is entirely different. Field evidence must be used as it was in Step 3, only this time; it is a much more lengthy discussion. A recommended scheme is to discuss the Carter years and why they led to double digit unemployment, interest rates and inflation. Follow this with a discussion on how Reagan was the President to defeat LBJ’s inflationary cycle and restore economic growth, as well as laying the groundwork for defeating the Soviet Union. This is a detailed discussion, so it will be difficult to hold the liberal’s attention for that long.

"7. Help restore humility – During the campaign, Obama supporters were anything but humble in their wild support for a community organizer. Looking back, they completely embarrassed themselves. The assisting conservative should point out that it was easy to follow along with such a dynamic speaker and campaigner, but the real measure of maturity is to learn from the experience. Liberals refer to every mistake as a ‘learning experience.’

"8. Establish a willingness to make amends – Gaining an Obama supporter’s willingness to vote for someone other than a Democrat is challenging. Simply point out that since Obama is in office damaging the country for perhaps an entire generation, swift and significant counteraction will be necessary to prevent prolonged economic disaster. After all, a liberal doesn’t want to be blamed for anything, especially while waiting to cash the unemployment check.

"9. Assist the Obamican in giving and finding forgiveness – Liberals actually like forgiving others. They aren’t quite so fond of asking forgiveness for themselves. Conservatives must coax this out into the open by making the sting of Obamanomics personal. If the Obama supporter is currently unemployed, this should be easy.

"10. Help recovering supporter maintain his progress – Recovering Obama supporters will burn up an incredible amount of personal energy trying to understand why His policies failed. Usually, Democrats fall back on the tried and true method of blaming others. However, with no Republican presence in Congress, Democrats have full responsibility for the condition of the country and won’t be able to logically blame someone else. Encouraging the former Obama worshiper to continue exploring free markets and conservative thought is a continuous effort.

"11. Help develop an action plan – Democrats love action plans. They love to make them and assign the difficult actions (like paying taxes) to others. That way they can blame others when the effort produces unintended consequences. Conservatives can get past this by involving the former Obamaniac in regular discussions of inflation, money supply theory and other detailed conservative principles. Recovering Obama supporters will need this level of detail to defend themselves when they go to their weekly book club meeting.

"12. Encourage recovering lefty to follow through on action plan – The Obama supporter that realizes he has been hoodwinked into voting for a snake oil salesman will still have to confront those that still consume the Obama Kool-Aid. Making her/his newfound understanding of conservative principles public will be terrifying at first. Conservatives can help by asking probing questions in public. Questions such as: ‘why will there be rapid inflation in 2010?’ will allow the recovering Obamniac to look knowledgeable among his peers. It may also generate an entirely new crop of liberals who wish to throw off the bounds of Obama worship. The conservative assistant may quickly find many in need of his services."

Direct government control of the banking business will surely make it fairer and more efficient.

"What a fantastic idea! Someone should have thought of this before.

"Apply this reasoning to, say, the auto industry. Government's direct involvement can force the auto industry to dump the management that failed to produce the toy cars the government said would abate global warming. Government control of the auto industry can eliminate those nasty, unnecessary monster cars, such as the Pontiac, and more. Direct government control of the auto industry would certainly be more efficient and would operate the industry in a more environmentally friendly way.

"Direct government control of the auto industry could eliminate the wasteful duplication of products and services. Why should there be three major auto manufacturers? The status quo requires three design departments, three different manufacturing operations, three different but duplicative sales networks, and three different repair and maintenance systems. Imagine all the savings that can be achieved by simply combining the auto industry into a single operation managed by government.

"This principle, applied to all industry, could result in enormous savings, ensure social justice in the workplace and avoid unsafe operations that jeopardize the environment. Wow, who can object to this change? This new direction by this new administration sounds great to a generation who can't remember, or never knew, why America became the strongest, most prosperous nation on earth.

"The answers to these questions are somewhat self-evident, if this hasn't occurred to you by now. The purulent lexicon of the corpulent Miz G and her vacuous comrades is replete with more relational invective for people like me. As for the rest of the tea party attendees – which included Americans of every ethnic background – I imagine that, given sufficient time, she would have gotten around to applying more specific slurs to them.

"Certainly, it is well within this woman's rights to speak her mind despite being appallingly ignorant and ill-bred. It then becomes the civic duty of one such as myself to call attention to these defects – more especially because, as an entertainer, she is given immediate and unequivocal credibility by the establishment press.

"It is likely that part of what gave Ms. Garofalo perceived license to use that sort of language came from CNN's openly gay anchor, Anderson Cooper, having done so a week before. That incident, in addition to being equally foul and torpedoing what vestiges of credibility his network then possessed, was moronic on its face. It was somewhat like me accusing someone of being 'a commentary-writing, public speaking thus-and-such' by way of insulting them. Honestly: Who is more likely to engage in 'tea bagging' anyway – Anderson Cooper or the average tea party-goer?

"These occurrences are, as many will tell you, a prime example of projection on the part of the far left: They accuse their opposition of being racists, haters, homophobes, xenophobic and so forth, yet they are the ones who are most often demonstrably so. I would wager – given the makeup of the people at the tea parties – that most would have either been amused or horrified by Garofalo's tirade. Those amused would have expected it. Others would have been horrified that such a crude little creature would be given a forum at all.

"All of this is leaving aside the fact that Garofalo's diatribe – like Cooper's commentary – was abject stupidity: She maintained that those attending the tea parties were anti-Obama racists, when nothing could be further from the truth. Speakers the nation over iterated time and again that Obama was not the issue; many called former President Bush to task for the same offenses being committed by the Obama administration. The caliber of the crowd was uniformly middle class. Yet, this woman saw fit to run her meaty mouth in the vein of rednecks, racism and Obama, Obama, Obama. She had no premise.

"To many of us, it's no surprise that the likes of Garofalo have, like poorly-raised junior high-schoolers, descended into the faddish, giggling potty language of the gay subculture. So much the better for them (in their quest to debase America) if such speech comes into common use.

"What really needs to be taken away from this is a lesson the far left has learned well: Nuggets such as these need to be glommed onto and hammered home without mercy. They might well prove to be invaluable in the effort toward educating those Americans who don't know what they're supporting when they throw in with far left politicians, or when they pay heed to the mouthings of dullards like Garofalo simply because they're entertainers.

"Keeping our fellow Americans informed when our government, our schools, the press and our entertainment industry are dedicated to propaganda and disinformation is probably the hardest job that conscientious, morally grounded Americans will have in the years ahead. If there is no recovery for the next six months — and I don’t think there will be — Obama will inevitably become part of the problem, not part of the solution.

"And then will come his heavy lifting. He has yet to raise taxes, regiment healthcare or provide amnesty for illegal immigrants. He hasn’t closed down the car companies he now runs and he has not yet forced a 50 percent hike in utility bills with his cap-and-trade legislation. These are all the goodies he has in store for us all.

"Obama’s very activism these days arrogates to himself the blame for the success or failure of his policies. Their outcome will determine his outcome, and there is no way it will be positive.

"Why?

• You can’t borrow as much as he will need to without raising interest rates that hurt the economy;

• The massive amount of spending will trigger runaway inflation once the economy starts to recover;

• His overhaul of the tax code (still in the planning phases) and his intervention in corporate management will create such business uncertainty that nobody will invest in anything until they see the lay of the land;

• His bank program is designed to help banks, but not to catalyze consumer lending. And his proposal for securitization of consumer loans won’t work and is just what got us into this situation.

"So Mr. Obama should enjoy his poll numbers while he may."

Nothing, of course, could be further from the truth. What we're hoping for is that America can somehow survive this frontal assault on our freedoms, and that our economic system can remain basically intact in spite of the combined efforts of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, Frank, Dodd and Geithner to destroy it.

"When I hear people in and out of the media who should get down on their knees and thank God or at least their ancestors that they were lucky enough to be born in America, instead parrot left-wing insults about this country, I want to slap them silly. No one ever thought of installing bars on their windows. Hot, humid summer nights found many people sleeping outside on balconies or lawn chairs. Starting in the '60s and '70s, doing the same in some neighborhoods would have been tantamount to committing suicide. Keep in mind that the 1940s and '50s were a time of gross racial discrimination, high black poverty and few opportunities compared to today. The fact that black neighborhoods were far more civilized at that time should give pause to the excuses of today that blames today's pathology on poverty and discrimination.

"Policemen and laws can never replace customs, traditions and moral values as a means for regulating human behavior. At best, the police and criminal justice system are the last desperate line of defense for a civilized society. It has also emphasized their harbored belief that any who refuse to toe that politically correct line deserve hatred, discrimination and perhaps prison.

Except for some minor instances--or when Obama simply embraced already existing policies of foreign governments--he has gotten precious little for his efforts.

"On Friday, President Obama finally made it official. United States troops will be out of Iraq by the end of 2011 - the timetable worked out with the Iraqi government under former President George Bush.

"But what of the 16-month timetable?

The newest version of the Obama plan - on its face - has the United States withdrawing combat troops in 19 months. However, his plan calls for leaving upward of 50,000 of the current 142,000 troops in support positions. This smaller number is carefully being referred to by those in the administration as anything but advisers, a term made politically incorrect by the Vietnam War.

"And what if the war goes badly between now and 19 months down the road?

"According to statements coming out of the White House, it appears all bets could be off for withdrawing United States troops.

"So what did the anti-war movement get with their "agent of change," President Barack Obama?

"Little or nothing, it would appear.

"Obama has, for all practical purposes, signed onto the Bush Doctrine in Iraq.

"But Obama's betrayal doesn't end there.

"Obama isn't really bringing troops home. He is moving the numbers to Afghanistan. Dear President Obama,

I am greatly disappointed, hurt and betrayed by you. When I cast my vote for you as the next president of the United States, I legitimately thought I was making the right choice. After following your campaign for almost a year, and even neglecting my girl Hillary, I was confident that you were the only person capable of moving our country in a new direction that would take us out of the dark hole we were in for eight years.

However, it is with great sorrow that I must say that you proved me wrong. Out of all the campaign promises you made, there was one that stuck out to me more than the rest. You said that once you were elected you would acknowledge the atrocities committed upon the Armenian people during the beginning of the 20th century as an act of genocide.

When I heard this statement, I thought I was finally going to have a president who would have my people’s best interest at heart. Unfortunately, on the day of the 94th anniversary of the genocide you disappointed me in a way I never thought you would.

As a first generation Armenian American, I was raised with stories from the genocide and photographic documentation that will stay with me forever. During my 13 years at a private Armenian school, the motivation was fostered in me to always keep fighting so the United States and Turkish governments would one day recognize the horrible acts committed on my people.

It has been 94 years since the beginning of the atrocities and Armenians, myself included, are still carrying on the fight for recognition. As a small nation, more prominent in the Diaspora, it is up to the young generation to make sure our ancestor’s deaths receive the recognition they deserve.

As I am writing this letter to you Mr. President I cannot help but shed a tear. You weren’t just any presidential candidate to me. I felt there was something special about you and that you didn’t possess the characteristics of the heartless politicians that have come through Washington in the past.

It pains me to say this, but I was wrong. When your politically correct statement about the Armenian Genocide was released on Friday, Armenians all over the world were remembering the 1.5 million massacred. Instead of finding the word genocide next to the word Armenian, as you vowed during your campaign, what we found was a broken promise.

Mr. President, you should be ashamed of yourself. You were praised by the people of this country during your campaign as the ultimate agent for hope and on the night of Nov. 4 you were given the opportunity to make good on the promises you made. But ever since you took office in January you haven’t been the president I hoped you would be.

Mr. President, you failed the people of this country by not sticking to your word and acknowledging the actions committed by the Ottoman Empire as genocide. You failed Armenian Americans and Armenians all over the world. Particularly, you failed me. Now you’re just another politician among the rest of the corrupt people in Washington that can’t keep their promises.
